Sensei Moore started his Judo career in 1973, and has over 20 years of teaching and coaching experience. Sensei Moore coached numerous National and International players and has distinguished himself in both Junior and Senior competition. In addition to Head Instructor/Coach of Desert Judo, Sensei Moore currently serves as IJF A Referee; member of the USJF Referee Committee; Chair of the AZ Yudanshakai Referee Committee; and former USJA Board Member.

Sensei Gaines began his Judo career in 1957 at the age of 15 at Luke Air Force Base under Sensei Doug Hall (now deceased). In 1962 he entered the military and studied in Bamberg, Germany under Sensei Jerry Dalien (now deceased). While in Germany in 1964 Sensei Gaines made Shodan (1st degree black belt). He competed in Germany at the Military Open Tournament and won both his weight division along with the open division. Sensei Gaines started teaching with Desert Judo in 1992 with Dr. Myers and Dr. Moore at Deer Valley High School. Since this time Sensei Gaines has competed extensively in both Senior and Master tournament competition winning numerous medals in both divisions. In 2005 the USJA awarded Sensei Gaines Outstanding Male Master Competitor.

Jack Bradford - Sandan- 3rd Dan

We recently lost a cherished member of our Judo community.  This website is dedicated to the memory of our most respected Sensei and friend, Jack Bradford.  Jack began Judo in 1972 at Phoenix College.  He studied under Sensei’s Al Mertz; Richard Cook; Harold Dumont; Henry Garcia; Doug Hall; Dr. Kent Myers; Dr. Greg Moore; and Larry Gaines.  Among other accomplishments, Jack was a 2006 Pan-Am Master’s Silver Medalist and 2006 Arizona State Gold Medalist.  He was an excellent instructor and coach for both juniors and seniors.  We miss you Jack!
